Behind the scenes of any big organisation, there is an administration team, that I would argue is equally as important in helping combat chronic pain in our community. This team keeps the wheels turning. They pay the bills, greet our patients, manage our facilities, ensure we have all of the equipment we need and basically run our organisation.

Giving Thanks is a Universal Emotion
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my compatriots in the USA who yesterday celebrated this special holiday with their families and loved ones. It is a special time in America and I wanted to first explain what this holiday means to my Australian colleagues and friends who may not have been exposed to this overseas custom. Secondly, take the opportunity to thank those close to me who have helped our organisation be what it is today.

Building a Team Culture One Employee at a Time
Today I was pleased to receive an award for 'Going the Extra Mile' from the Medical Director of Monash House Private Hospital, Dr Paul Verrills.
It was an unexpected reward for helping a nurse in need several years ago. He heard about how I had supported a nurse from overseas to find employment, offered emotional support and even had her stay at my home while she recovered from a challenging marriage break up.
